Frequently Asked Questions

Do cichlids fight each other?

Territorial behaviour is natural for cichlids. We design the layout and select compatible species and stocking densities to minimise harmful aggression. The right tank size, hiding spots and species combination make a significant difference.

Can I have plants in a cichlid tank?

Many cichlids will dig up or damage plants. For African setups, we typically use robust Anubias tied to rocks, or avoid live plants entirely. South American cichlids can coexist with some plants if chosen carefully.

What size tank do cichlids need?

The minimum practical size depends on species — most cichlid communities need at least 150–200 litres to allow adequate territories. Large species like Oscars need 300+ litres. We'll specify the correct tank size for your chosen fish.
